The Copyright Tool Kit
What is copyright?
Everyone has a right to protect their creativity; this is why copyright regulations exist. Copyright gives the creator rights to control the way in which their material is used. It also allows creators to gain financial reward for their efforts, ultimately encouraging future creativity and the development of new materials.
Why do we need the Tool Kit?
This Tool Kit has been produced by the Further Education Reprographic Forum to help users work through the maze of copyright rules and regulations. Wherever possible, we have worked closely with copyright agencies, examination boards and other interested parties to produce a guide that is as accurate as possible. However, this Tool Kit should not be viewed as a substantive legal guide and where there is any doubt over copyright ownership, appropriate advice should be sought elsewhere.
